Personal Thoughts on Civilians Buying Body Armor
_
This is a topic on the civilian’s
rights to buy body armor and my personal thoughts regarding this issue. Can civilians buy body armor?
What are the rights of a person that are acknowledged internationally? I would like to highlight some of the human rights which are in accordance to our topic in this blog post. Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights says that “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”. Therefore, no one is above another. They are born free and equal in everything. Article 2 says, “Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status”. That would be self-explanatory, right? Article 3 states that, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person”. When I am asked why civilians must be allowed to buy body armor, I would simply answer because everyone has the right to live. In this world full of criminals, everyone must understand that if we don’t protect out life, this may end up too soon than what we expected. Bullet proof vest, knife proof vests, these can save us our lives. But with this, we should also keep in mind that as what the grandfather of Spiderman said, “Great power comes with great responsibility”, in this regard let me explain further that even if civilians are allowed to buy body armors, it is best to follow the rules and regulations set by the laws in your country to avoid issues. Do not use these armors for you to hurt other people. Respect also their right to live as much as they respect you having these armors to defend yourself from harm. |
